Lilian Mbanda
Food Scientist
Lilian Mbanda is a skilled and gifted nutrition and public health specialist with over four years of experience in humanitarian projects, particularly in the fields of nutrition and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene). She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Food Nutrition and Dietetics from Egerton University and a Master’s degree in Public Health from Gulu University. Lilian is deeply passionate about improving community health, with a special focus on Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN).
Her expertise includes hands-on experience in formulating nutrient-dense, fortified flours using locally available ingredients to address micronutrient deficiencies in children aged 6-24 months. Lilian has served in various roles, including Research Consultant, Hygiene and Sanitation Officer, and Training and Monitoring Officer. She is also skilled in behavior change communication, food security phase classification, and data analysis.
Lilian has worked collaboratively with government agencies, NGOs, refugee communities, and local populations to promote better health outcomes and enhance well-being for all. Her dedication to research and community health makes her a key contributor to the Sorghum Value Addition Project.
