Peter Akomo

Project Manager

Peter is a Food Technology and Product Development expert with vast experience in food processing, factory

layout designing, quality management systems and procedures, and product development in nutritious foods. I am proficient in application of linear programming in formulating supplement recipes. I am an active researcher and a publishing author on specialist nutrition. I am passionate in finding local sustainable strategies for mitigation of hunger and malnutrition in the developing world.

I worked with Valid Nutrition for over 12 years in different progressive capacities rising to Product Development and Technology Manager while leading product and recipe development and providing food technology support to the company’s factory operations in Malawi and India. Since 2021 to date, I practice as a consultant in areas of Food processing technology, food safety management systems and product development. During this period, I have among other clients consulted for the Natural Resources Institute, University of Greenwich on two separate projects to develop nutritious plant-based foods for treatment of acute malnutrition in children.

I hold a Master’s degree in Food Science and Technology from the University of Nairobi which involved a research internship at the Laboratory of Human Nutrition of the Swiss Technical Institute of Technology. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Technology from the University of Nairobi.
