Peter Akomo
Project Manager
Peter Akomo is an expert in Food Technology and Product Development with extensive experience in food processing, factory layout design, quality management systems, and the creation of nutritious food products. He is particularly skilled in applying linear programming to formulate supplement recipes and is an active researcher and publishing author on specialist nutrition. Driven by his passion to find sustainable solutions to hunger and malnutrition, Peter is dedicated to addressing food security challenges in the developing world.
With over 12 years of experience at Valid Nutrition, Peter advanced to the role of Product Development and Technology Manager, where he led product and recipe development and provided food technology support to factory operations in Malawi and India.
Since 2021, he has been a consultant in food processing technology, food safety management systems, and product development. Among his consultancy achievements, he has worked with the Natural Resources Institute, University of Greenwich, on projects to develop nutritious plant-based foods for treating acute malnutrition in children.
Peter holds a Master’s degree in Food Science and Technology from the University of Nairobi, which included a research internship at the Laboratory of Human Nutrition at the Swiss Technical Institute of Technology. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Technology from the University of Nairobi. His expertise, leadership, and commitment to nutrition make him a valuable asset to the Sorghum Value Addition Project.
