About the event
St. Anthony Inclusive Comprehensive School in Awasi, which supports children with special needs, has faced persistent challenges due to water scarcity. Despite efforts to maintain a school garden for improved nutrition, crops often dried out, and students struggled to fetch water, competing with essential needs like cooking and cleaning.
In partnership with Engineers Without Borders USA (EWB), a borehole installation project is underway to address these challenges. Students from the Missouri University of Science and Technology’s engineering department conducted community assessments to evaluate water needs and feasibility. The project aims to supply water to the school and establish community water kiosks to meet broader WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) needs.
This initiative will enhance nutrition, reduce the time spent fetching water, and improve the lives of children and families in Awasi. We’re excited to see the community flourish with access to clean, reliable water. 💧
