About the event
We were delighted to host a cohort of Nutrition and Community Health students from Commonwealth College of Medical and Related Studies, Kisumu, at our office. During their educational tour, they explored an array of key aspects of food security through learning about mixed farming on our demonstration farm, guided by our project officer Agustine.
The students also learned about processing farm produce using sun-drying and milling techniques, and they engaged in value addition by creating nutrient-rich sorghum flour from locally available ingredients, guided by our Food Scientist Lilian. The practicals continued as they prepared porridge using the flour and later participated in a sensory evaluation of various samples, providing written feedback.
We look forward to welcoming more groups interested in sorghum value addition and spreading the message of improved nutrition across our community.
